🍂 Who else is feeling a shift in the air?

Hi Reader!

*brushes cobwebs off keyboard*

How are you, friend! I hope this year has been treating you well. I’ve missed sharing this little corner of the internet with you. We’ve got some catching up to do, so get snuggled up with a cozy drink and let’s dive in. ☕️

If you're new here, feel free to catch up on some previous newsletters here!

The beginning of November has felt like an extra fresh start this year in so many ways. Tomorrow is my one-year anniversary as a fitness instructor! Usually I’d say “time flies,” but the last 12 months have felt longer than normal. So much has happened over this last year and that novelty has stretched out the passage of time, which isn’t a bad thing. In fact, it’s been an amazing year!

I’ve worked at four different fitness studios. One fired me back in January (long story) and one permanently closed last week. Now I’m teaching at two places that I love and in whose workout programs I believe.

The closing of my main gym has felt like the end of an era. It was exactly two years ago that I first joined as a member, then got hired and moved through nearly all the possible job titles there: front desk, sales associate, sales lead, fitness instructor, lead instructor. This will absolutely be a chapter of my life that I’ll remember fondly.

With the closure of my main studio, my schedule finally has some breathing room again. In all honesty, I had been getting the itch to come back to content creation, which was making me consider leaving that studio to free up the time. I find that the universe tends to push me in a direction when I’m stalling or unsure. I have no doubt that’s what happened to me here, albeit in a rather jarring fashion.

I’ve been playing with some ideas for where I want to take my pages, especially now that my life is in such a different place than it was when I first created April Adventuring. That doesn’t mean I’ll be pivoting completely away from the outdoors, but it will become one facet of my content, much like it’s one (highly important) piece of the puzzle that is my life. Stay tuned for the updates and much more — and more varied — content :)

Adventures

As far as adventures have gone, I’ve had a slower year than most as I’ve been focused on my fitness career. Most of my outdoor time has been spent running as I’ve upped my training time recently, specifically for Hyrox next month. I’d also love to do more half marathons and potentially a full one at some point!

One of my main goals for the new year is to travel more, both locally and farther afield. It has been a long, hot summer here in Los Angeles, so I’m excited to make the most of the cooler weather for longer hikes. Cold weather isn’t something I look forward to, so having a plan to enjoy it is essential for my sanity over these months.

A major change from my previous life in tech is that I no longer have the option to work remotely. Everything I do now requires my physical presence, often in multiple locations around the city in one day. That means trips are restricted to days I have off from work, so expect a lot more day trips and overnighters! And while extended trips are great, I’m looking forward to the challenge of seeing what I can accomplish in just one or two days off at a time.

& S'more

I might be biting off more than I can chew, but I’ll be re-entering the world of content creation with a 100 Day Creator Comeback Challenge. This is my way of jumpstarting my momentum before the new year begins.

My commitment is to spend at least 30 minutes per day on a task that aligns with my identity of being a creator. I’m reminding myself that I want to focus on the act of creating and the person that I want to become through my creating, rather than on the outputs, ie. published posts, gained followers, more views. I’m hoping that centering this habit change around my identity of “I am a creator” makes it more sustainable, transformative, and fun!

I’ve been dipping my toes back into this world over the last week and must say, I feel so much more like myself than I have in a long time. It's good to be back. Keep an eye out for more adventures and updates very soon.

Thanks so much for sticking with me. May these last couple months of the year be restorative, comforting, and inspiring. ✨

Let me know what you're looking forward to as we near the end of the year and I'll catch you in the next one ✌🏻

Happy adventuring,

💚A

Hi Reader! Long time no see... I have barely opened my laptop in the past six months. What used to be my home and sanctuary, suddenly felt completely foreign. All my websites had been signed out, I could barely remember where I left off on any projects, and my momentum was completely gone. I must admit: there came a point that I wasn't sure if I'd ever be back. I'd taken such a long break and life had gone in an entirely different direction. Would anyone from my old digital life even want to...

Hi Reader! We're in the thick of summer and I'm loooving spending time outside in the sun. It's been a wonderful escape from all my responsibilities and let me tell you -- I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed by how much I want to accomplish in the coming months. In the midst of all the work I want to complete, I'm also on the hunt for a new apartment. It can be brutal trying to find a spot in Los Angeles that checks all the boxes, especially budget and location. Keep your fingers crossed for me...

Hi Reader! I can't believe it's already the second half of the year. I treat July 1st like a mini New Year, which means getting a fresh burst of motivation toward my goals. My schedule has been all over the place for the last few months, so right now I'm working on getting into a consistent rhythm again. The long, summer days make me want to spend all my time outdoors. It's a balancing act finding time for work and play during my favorite season. ☀️ I hope summer is treating you well so far!...
